Dear Governor Davis:

 

Thank you for signing the auto emissions legislation into law yesterday.  Global warming is the most pressing and potentially the most catastrophic environmental challenge we face.  By signing this law, and becoming the first state in the nation to target carbon dioxide emissions and pressure the auto industry to design and produce cleaner vehicles, California has furthered its position as a leader in fighting pollution and protecting the environment. 

 

Let’s hope that California has started a national trend and that federal lawmakers, other states and the auto industry will follow suit and adopt more sensible priorities when it comes to climate change.
