Dear Mr. Duncan and Senator Inhofe:
As a socially responsible investor, I believe that it is
essential to protect our water resources not only to help protect the
environment and safeguard a critical public resource, but also to avoid a
variety of business risks including increased water costs and conflicts with local
communities over water rights.
The EPA's and Corps of Engineers' January 15 Notice of
Proposed Rulemaking is an attempt to limit the jurisdiction of the Clean Water
Act over waters that are important to public health and the environment,
including streams, wetlands, small ponds, and other waters.
This proposal is in direct conflict with the original intent
of the Clean Water Act - to maintain the chemical, physical, and biological
integrity of all waters of the United States.
I urge you to support the Clean Water Authority Restoration
Act (S. 473 and H.R. 962), which reaffirms Congress' original intent in 1971 in
passing the Clean Water Act. Please help ensure that all of the nation's waters
remain protected by the Clean Water Act as they have been for the last 30
years.
Many thanks for your attention.
Yours Sincerely,
